Gold King Paddles

In 2015, the Gold King Mine north of Silverton, Colorado ruptured and millions of gallons of toxic sludge poured into the Animas River watershed.

Raise awareness about the devastation which ensued after the mine breach and impacted tourism, agriculture, and ecosystems.

Since Durango, Colorado is a famous whitewater town, I decided to take salvaged canoe paddles paint them white and then add an orange water line as though the paddles had been dipped in the orange, toxic Animas River.
